Ukama igaswa hunozadziswa nekudya, loosely translated to mean, food will always complete our brotherhood/sisterhood. Nomatter what we do, in the end, food will bring us closer. This can further be illustrated by what we witnessed on popular blogging site X (Formerly known as Twitter). Team Fulo, food enthusiasts, decided to run an Ambassadors Cook-Off challenge and invited all Ambassadors assigned to Zimbabwe from non-African countries to participate. It was a beautiful weekend on the platform as different Ambassadors actually made the local dish Highfiridzi (vegetables and meat combination). There was joy as people participated including local brands like Olivine, joining the challenge as a Sponsor. Indeed, food should and may strengthen our relations.
It is against this understanding that I tell you about these popular food stops in Harare, in case you’re in a bid to strengthen your brotherhood/sisterhood with someone, or you’re just trying to spoil yourself and eat good food.
- Pariah State – a local franchise that has about 3 branches in the capital and one in Victoria Falls . They serve gourmet meals and according to their social media, they are a modern cafe and a retro bar. Pariah State makes it easy for you to order food online and have it delivered to your place.
- Amanzi Restaurant – Nestled in the lush suburb of Highlands, Amanzi Restaurant is popularly known for its contemporary cuisine. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to eat, relax and enjoy the quiet classy ambience, you may want to try it.
- News Cafe Harare – If I were allowed to have a favourite this would be it!! But since I can’t, let’s continue, News Cafe is a contemporary franchise restaurant, that offers the following according to its website “ a quick breakfast and a great cup of coffee, a sophisticated spot for lunch or a trendy bar in the evening” what’s not there to like.
- Pablo’z Club & VIP Lounge – a very popular restaurant with a sky deck and an exclusive lounge. This place offers everything fine dining you can think of. Judging by their social media posts, it is also a fan favourite with many 5-star reviews. Of course, that sky deck makes it attractive because at the end, who doesn’t want a small kodak moment before or after eating a good meal, preferably in a VIP Lounge
- The Jam Tree – well, if you want fast food(fast food that went to private school) with a touch of class and sophistication, now you know where to go in Harare. Yet another fan favourite with a Facebook following north of 22 000, it is easy to conclude that this is a trendy food joint. You might want to give it a try.
- The Three Monkey Restaurant – even if I didn’t want to eat at this restaurant, i would go just for the ambience and the picturesque dam and lush lawns awash on Facebook. Turns out, the food is to die for too. Well, you can actually kill 2 birds with a little stone called booking and driving to the place and don’t forget to maximise that opportunity to take nice photos while at it.
- The Mustard Seed – yet another Highlands establishment. There must be something about Highlands and fine dining I guess because that’s where this 5-star online-rated restaurant is. If you want a quiet and beautiful ambience while eating, you may want to try this.
Don’t say we didn’t plug you.
